Say goodbye to clogged gutters

Let’s face it – gutter maintenance ranks somewhere between dental appointments and tax filing on the excitement scale. With Abbotsford’s heavy rainfall patterns, especially during those notorious Pacific Northwest downpours, neglecting this task simply isn’t an option. Enter Shack Shine. Our professional crew delivers clean, free-flowing gutters in just one detailed visit. We have the tools, we have the time, and we have the energy. We’re ready to take on this chore—so you don’t have to.

But don’t wait until it’s too late. Clogged gutters can cause water to overflow, potentially damaging your roof, walls, and foundation. Additionally, standing water in gutters can create a breeding ground for insects and form damaging ice dams during Abbotsford’s freezing winter temperatures, which can wreak havoc on your roofline and cause water to seep beneath shingles.

After we’ve thoroughly cleared every inch of your gutter system and ensured water flows smoothly through downspouts, we’ll meticulously clean any residue from your home’s exterior. Those unsightly black streaks that often appear on Abbotsford homes due to our humid climate? Gone without a trace. Please don’t settle for a property that’s less than its best. Choose Shack Shine and see the difference clean gutters can make!

Gutter cleaning FAQs

Q: How do you clean customers’ gutters?

A: At Shack Shine, we clean gutters by hand and with good old fashioned scoops. For more stubborn build up, we can also break out the latest gutter cleaning technologies, including high-powered vacuums.

Q: Why is gutter cleaning important?

A: Gutter cleaning is important because it helps prevent water damage to your home and foundation. Clogged gutters can cause water to overflow and penetrate the roof, walls, and foundation, causing leaks, mold, and other structural problems. Additionally, dirty gutters can attract pests and create a fire hazard if leaves and debris accumulate near rooflines.

Q: How often should I have my gutters cleaned if I live in Abbotsford, British Columbia?

A: In Abbotsford, with its wet coastal climate and abundant evergreen trees, most homeowners should schedule gutter cleaning at least twice yearly: once in late spring after seed pods and blossoms have fallen, and again in late autumn when deciduous trees shed their leaves. Given the significant rainfall Abbotsford receives from November through March, preventing water backup is essential for protecting your home’s foundation and exterior. Properties near cedar or pine trees might need quarterly cleaning due to the constant needle drop these trees produce throughout the year.

Q: How does Abbotsford’s frequent rainfall affect my gutter maintenance needs?

A: Abbotsford receives approximately 1,500mm of precipitation annually, primarily during winter months, making effective gutter systems crucial for local homes. This consistent moisture, combined with our lush vegetation, creates perfect conditions for moss and algae growth within gutters. Without regular cleaning, these organisms can completely obstruct water flow and add substantial weight to your gutter system, potentially causing sagging or detachment from your roofline.

Q: What special considerations should Abbotsford homeowners with agricultural properties have for gutter maintenance?

A: For Abbotsford’s numerous agricultural properties, especially those in the Sumas Prairie or along the foothills, gutter systems face unique challenges. The open farmland allows wind to carry more debris into gutters, while proximity to fields can introduce seed material from nearby crops. Additionally, farm buildings often have extended rooflines that collect more rainfall, making properly functioning gutters essential for preventing soil erosion around foundations and protecting valuable equipment or livestock areas from water damage.

I was a youth worker and social worker as well as was a College Pro Painter franchisee. I enjoy giving young people a great place to work and to make customers happy by saving them time and stress.

We hang Christmas Lights for Redemption church in Vancouver every year. I also personally work with a lot of at-risk youth doing things like one on one mentoring as well as various volunteer projects including as a volunteer staff at Rock Solid Refuge that works with teenage boys dealing with addiction issues where they live for a year on a farm to connect with God and have a safe place to get a handle on their addictions. If you know someone who could really use Christmas Lights this year and can’t afford them, please reach out to us, we do at least one free job a year to help out, possibly more to help make the neighborhood brighter with the current situation.

Outside of work, I like to mentor/ help with at-risk youth, spend time with my family and kids, ski/ raft/ hike/ horseback ride, sports (hockey, golf, soccer, basketball, anything really), learn about business/self-development as well build my relationship with God through the bible and fellowship, and I love to travel.
